Hood bumpers early 3000

I noticed my hood doesn't fit right - I looked on the parts manual and there are supposed to be rubber bumpers on the cowl. But my cowl does not have holes for rubber bumpers and it has only the remains of something that looks like a rubber weatherstrip on the left side.

Does anyone know what is going on? Were early 3-cyl tractors not supplied with the hood bumpers?

I think your hunch is correct - early tractors had the one-piece weatherstrip and later machines had the bumpers. It would be rather simple
to drill the hood for the bumpers if you wanted to.

I believe they went to the little bumpers
when they went to the new style tin. Not
positive on that tho.
The old style was a rubber strip that was
glued to the cowel and radiator shroud.
The strip measures about 5/32" thick and
about 19/32" wide. It is not a foam rubber
but a soft, solid strip.
I think you could find something at a hot
rod place.
Or look on the usual - ebay, google, etc.
There is a place in the Twin cities called
Metro Old Car World that sells about a
hundred different types of rubber strips.
I bought some from them a dozen or more
years ago but don't remember what it was.
Was expensive. Like $40?
Photos show an original piece of the stuff
that I saved from a mashed up early 3000.

Thanks! That’s what the stuff on the left side looks like. I’m familiar with Metro MMP from my mopar restoration experience and I’m sure I can find something like that.
