Looked at a 8N tractor with water in the oil. I did a leak down test, when pressurizing 1 and 2 cylinders the radiator would bubble. I pulled
the head. I found a blown water jacket between 1 and 2 cylinders. ? is which head gasket should i use? Metal or soft? Does copper coat work
well on the metal? Thanks

Yes, use either gasket.

I use to tend to prefer the soft gaskets, but metal impregnated worked fine too.
I used copper coat mostly, though have put them on dry. If the head and block deck are perfect, you should have no problems. I've seen decks and heads that looked to have screwdriver marks scraping off old gasket.. Those got copper coat.

Remember your torque sequence, and to retorque after warming.

Get a Felpro gasket no sealer needed life will be good...

From what I have ran into on tractors that have Ford script stamped into the gasket Ford did use the soft gasket either as a replacement are as original.

Felpro has a nice gasket

They all have metal in'em they would not work with out it...

I think either one will work fine. Most important thing is to torque it like the manual says. there is not much room for error at all on those motors. very critical.
