Installing Headlights

Ford 2000; 3 cyl. gas. 1965 model year; 4/1 trans....I bought a set of headlights to add to my tractor before I sell it to my brother and have a couple questions.... What wire gauge would work best: 16 gauge; 14 gauge, heavier?? Are the lights grounded via their bolted connection to the body metal or do I need to ground them to the frame??

Please advise if this wiring connection will work: connect hot wires from both headlamps and run to the switch; run hot wire from switch to a battery connection. What's the best place to connect the hot wire to the battery, at the voltage regulator??

Thanks.

14 gauge would be plenty big for a couple of lights. From factory, the lights are grounded to the fender or whatever they were mounted to.
This will work if there is no paint or rust between, for example, the fender and the axle housing.

Your wiring plan should work - don't forget to add a fuse. For power, I'd source it off of the "B" post of the key switch.

where's the best place to pick up the power from the battery?

The "B" post on ignition switch is your B+

Circuit path would be:
1. Ignition switch B post
2. Fuse
3. Headlight switch
4. Lamps wired in parallel
5. Ground

Ah! got it. It will be great to get the lights on this tractor. I think they got broken off long ago, maybe when the front end took a left hook and the hood was replaced. The proofmeter on this 2000 quit at about 2750 hours so I don't know how many actual hours are on it but, based on all the fixes I find on the tractor, many of those hours were rough ones.

Thanks for the info.
