NAA Coolant sensor stuck in block!

Went to replace the gauge and sensor and can't get the sensor out. The retaining nut comes out but the sensor probe is stuck solid. Any great ideas on how to get that sucker out? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Got it! After cleaning all the crud away, I took a 1/8" drift punch and lightly tapped on the shoulder of the probe, like you would if you wanted it to go in further. This was enough to break the ring of gunk that had it sealed in there. Coolant started to come out so I quickly unthreaded the old and threaded in the new. Easy Peasy.

Just a comment which would require some work to make it work, if it will work: Temp sending units aren't the same physical size. If you have a large one and are up against a wall, if you can find a small one with the correct resistance, grind off the top and drill and tap (carefully) the old one and insert the new one. I use Vaseline to catch the shavings when doing such as this.

Off Road, I don't know how well this will work, but I would try squirting some vinegar or PB Blaster around it. Let it soak for an hour or more, then repeat. Then try tapping it with a light hammer to loosen it up. It's probably just encrusted with rust and gunk that needs to be dissolved. Good luck and let us know if it worked.

(quoted from post at 18:14:26 07/26/18) I hope you meant head and not block....

I did mean block but my fingers typed block. Stoopid fingers!

Took a drift punch and with a few light taps the probe went further into the head and allowed me enough wiggle room to break the crusties. Thanks.
