I put a new regulator on it , it charged good but the Gen light flickers dim never goes off. The brushes in the Gen throws sparks so pulled the Gen apart the armature is worn needs bearings etc. To get it going and out of my way brought a new Gen from a local electrical repair shop. Install Gen the gen light still flickers no sparks from the gen brushes. KOEO the gen are oil light are off look at the wiring diagram and go straight for the inline 3amp fuse its blown. Get it took care of the gen and oil light work KOEO gen light no longer flickers KOER. Run it start it several times check amp/voltage all's good with the world. Put my tools up go to move it the gen light flickers KOEO gen light and oil light off replace the fuse KOER Fuse is blow again....

It will blow the fuse once you start the engine. It will not blow it KOEO only KOER it may take a few seconds are 120 seconds no pattern to it. I install a amp meter to check amp draw randomly it will show 25 amps at the fuse. To make a long story short something it wrong with the fuel are oil gauge I pulled the power going to the voltage stabilizer no more blow fuses. Neither fuel are oil gauge work I think both senders are good.

A good voltage stabilizer at work it switched 7 times in two seconds.

When things go wrong it switched around 100 times in 1 sec. Pert near a dead short.

Why it does this with the engine running I dunno this was play time on my dime I pulled the power to the stabilizer if he wants the gauges to work we will spend his dimes... Its a good scope pattern of how a voltage stabilizer works... I just don't know why it goes all the ell with the engine running...

Isn't the internals of those stabilizers just a couple of contacts where one or both of them is a bimetallic strip so it breaks contact as it heats up? Maybe one of the contacts is cracked or loose on its mounting so that it flaps around with the vibrations of the engine but when the engine's not running it sits where it's supposed to.

I clicked "Submit" too soon. I meant to add that you could test my theory by shaking it by hand when the engine's not running and see what it looks like on the scope.

try pulling both gauges on the back side of stabilizer.. see what it does.. then hook up one at a time.... see then if on or the other is bad? sounds like bad stabilizer on surface.

Explained the deal to him he seamed to be satisfied the gauges never worked before if he wants me to go farther he needs to bless it with his pocket-book.... :)....

The last 30 years are so I kill every generator I run across this is one of two that survived... Curiosity got me plus I found info I needed in the search function here... What I did not find I googled it google brought me to hits on YT.... Thanks again...
