7710 PTO pressure supply tube

Has anyone had to replace the hydraulic oil supply tube from the tandem gear pump to the PTO valve lately? Evidently the tube is
no longer supplied by New Holland in favor of a "kit" consisting of a new PTO valve, a number of fittings and a "new improved"
tube to the tune of $600 plus. Not to mention the fun of swapping out the valve.
They also listed a three piece package of two tubes and a spring clip for use in place of the original line without the new valve.
I tried that but the parts they came up with don't exactly make it from point A to point B. I'll be heading back there again
tomorrow to see what they come up with next.
Just wondering if anyone else has been through this and if so what was your final solution?

I can't tell you anything about that but a 7710 should certainly be worth putting $600 into. It is a far better tractor than the newer electronic tractors. How many hours?

I haven't had to replace any of those lines with the new style parts, but it doesn't surprise me that there is an update, as those original tubes were not the best design in my opinion, especially where it clipped to the valve.

If it was mine, I'd drill and tap the existing control valve port for the closest pipe thread (I'm guessing 3/8" NPT) . I'd do the same thing on the opposite end of the axle housing and then attach it with some flexible hose and ferrules much like the 5000 series did, except bigger. You have to remember that all of your lube flow goes through that line.

Check out the image at the link below to see what it looks like on the 5000. The tube is # 34.

I agree the existing clip setup is probably not one of "Ford's better ideas". Installing a sturdier connection such as a threaded fitting would be a better long term solution, but it still requires removing the valve for the modification. Something I was hoping to avoid. Threading the valve with the clutch in place might be a possibility on smaller tractor models, but this one has the park brake assembly right in the middle of the space making access pretty limited.
The flexible line idea something like the 5000 had is probably a better option than the current rigid tube tube since the clutch assembly has to float some during operation which no doubt adds strain to the tube/valve connection. The design of the original clip doesn't provide much strength in the little flanges that hold it all together.
I guess I'll go back and discuss the problems with the new parts I have and see what that brings. I suspect I will most likely end up pulling the clutch out for some sort of modification.

I think I just changed the tube on mine and used the new style clip... but I switched to a fatter profile o-ring that I glued myself. This was quite a number of years ago... but I also updated the valve as well for other reasons. Not sure if that covers your situation or not. Changing the valve can be done through the top cover... but that is still a fair bit of work.
