Ran when parked

Not mine, it?s on Craigslist near me for $975.
Says it ran when parked, 1960 vintage.
I?m not interested but was wondering what y?all think the green
garden hose is for, it runs up to the breather, picture quality
not very good...

Someone's homemade PCV setup. I saw one on a gas 900 or 901 one time. They probably didn't like the blowby coming out the breather.

Looks good to me. Diesel, 5speed, power steering and good looking tire. Where is it.

Diesel 4000 with 5 speed and power steering?
Too far away for me but an interesting tractor.

I wondered about that but didn?t think anybody would have done it using a garden hose, I looked at a David Brown tractor once that somebody had piped the blow by from the crank case breather pipe back in to side of the air cleaner with hard pipe , I walked away from that one (worn out engine)

I wonder what he means by "hi/low transmission".
The shifter on the 5 speed or something aft of the transmission?
Still too far away for me though. I'm in Michigan.

(quoted from post at 20:44:01 07/14/18) Will that high,/ low transmission fit a 901 ?

If you're asking about a Sherman combo, then no, it will not work in that tractor as the Sherman's only work with a 4 speed and that tractor has a 5 speed. If it had a 4 speed then it would work.

That's why I was asking what he meant by Hi/Low.
Maybe just the way the 5 speed shifter works, or maybe something aft of the 5 speed?
I've never seen an auxiliary transmission in a row crop in my area.

I bet that Hi-lo refers to the 5 speed. Hose is crank case vent as Fordfarmer said. Price is of course high for a non-runner but not by a lot. Those tires could be good.

I read the ad as; the engine is shot, the other components listed were working ok at that time.
