Scraping off some ugly

I had read that a razor blade can be used to scrape off paint. I was tired of looking at the blue paint on my 860 so I thought I would give it a try. I will still have to try a flap wheel or something else to get the areas I couldn't get with the razor blade. Before and after pictures.

There was a spot where the paint had peeled off so I knew there was paint under the ugly blue.

Ford blue looks good on the chassis of the later fords, I just didn't like seeing it on the sheetmetal of a 1955 model.

Kirk is correct, my 860 has a Sherman Napco conversion on it. They are more scarce than an Elenco conversion. I do also have an Elenco on an 841 waiting for its turn at some attention. Gotta get the kids through college first, then hope to have more disposable income for tractor fun.

I just have to ask, How do you get used to that left floorboard? I cant figure out why they didnt use an extra gear set to drop that box a little lower.

Its not the most comfortable when sitting on the tractor, but not horrible either. I do climb on and off from the right side about half the time. Both the Sherman Napco and Elenco conversions require the left running board to be mounted different. Neither conversion used a drop type gearbox to lower the back of the drivshaft to the front axle. Only the Elwood conversion used on Farmall used a drop type gearbox.
