Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

I believe that the one held in place by the nut is the traction disconnect lever, and that is actually on the side of the rear axle center housing on a round plate. If that's the one I think you mean, and there's no other handle on the left side forward of that one then it is the single speed PTO.

Martinmanhd28,
If you are looking for an owners manual, I downloaded my copy to the good people over at the other Ford forum for N tractors.

10 forward and 2 reverse gears is the Select-O-Speed transmission. Does it have a lever/handle down on the left side of the transmission housing near the inching pedal? If not, then it has hte single speed 540 rpm independent PTO. If so, then it has the dual speed 540/1000 rpm independent PTO. If it has a second lever/handle farther back but still on the transmission housing then it also has ground speed PTO.

4120 looks like the model number but it should have one more digit at the end. The 4120 part says that it is a 4000 series general purpose ag chassis tractor with adjustable front axle. That last missing digit would tell us what transmission and PTO options it came with:

0 - Four-speed w/o PTO

1 - Four-speed w/trans (non-live)PTO

2 - Five-speed w/live PTO

4 - Select-O-Speed w/o PTO

5 - Select-O-Speed wsingle-speed (540 rpm) PTO

6 - Select-O-Speed w/two-speed (540 and 1000 rpm) independent PTO

7 - Select-O-Speed w/540 and 1000 rpm independent PTO and ground-speed PTO

37636 is a late 1963 serial number.

Is your 4000 a 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder?
