2600 hydraulic problems, check valve??

On my 2600 the 3 point stopped working suddenly, hydraulic pump works fine as my loader is working. Loader is tapped into a block on the lift cover. troubleshooting chart mentions the check valve. It is the valve at the frt. of the lift cover under the auxiliary hydraulic block and cover. The hex is accessible, is this able to be removed without lifting the lift cover?

Lift arms are at the lowest position, right where I had dropped them to when I parked the tractor with the finish mower on it. Raise the control, nothing happens. Control is moving the shaft.

Does raising the draft control handle make it move? (Second handle to the left of the position control handle in the quadrant)

No, you can move the controls any way you want no movement. Arms are free you can lift them by hand.
Back to the check valve. Can it be removed without removing the lift cover? What exactly is it's purpose?

heck valve is not going to be the cause of no lift. Why the focus on it? I don't know about removal on 2600.

Because it's one of the first things listed in the diagnostic chart after low oil level. And it's on the outside of the cover which is why it would be the easy first thing to check if it can be removed without removing the cover.
What exactly does it do?

nce pressure has been applied to the lift cylinder, the check valve serves to prevent the cylinder pressure from bleeding off back thru the source/pump. A one-way valve. Flow can only go into the cylinder via the check valve, but can not come back out by that path.) It requires very little pressure to open it to input flow, but will hold back thousands of psi that might try to flow in reverse. Once being held, the lowering can be accomplished by the movement of the control valve spool.

The most notorious culprit would be the unloader valve being stuck in the unload (bypass) position. Beyond that, maybe the front loader valve/adapter plate interrupting flow to 3 point.

Not that it couldn't but I don't think it's the plate for the front loader. I haven't had the frt. loader on the tractor in months. 3pt was working fine until the last time I mowed. I pulled under the loader and connected just to see if the hydraulics were working, and they are. I'll pull the lift cover if I need to.

Just an update, the fluid is full and yes you can remove the plug for the check valve without removing the cover. It's all clean and fine. I'll be pulling the lift cover when I get time.
