4600 Removing lower link arm

I have a '78 4600 that I would like to replace the left lower link arm. I can not get the pin out where it attaches to the bell housing. Is there something I am missing here? Suggestions? Based on the parts diagram it's a shouldered pin that has a lock nuts on the inside. We can't get the pin to budge.

There should be a castle nut with a cotter pin on the end of the pin closest to the center housing. If you have the cotter pin and nut removed and the pin won't move then it is probably rusted in place. Penetrating oil and/or heat may free it up. Also, you could try tapping it inwards to break the rust free before trying to tap it in the outward direction.

That looks like it, but the end of the pin where the threads are should have holes to accommodate the cotter pin that keeps the nut from backing out. Here's a link to the parts drawing that shows the "slotted nut" as the part numbered 24 in the drawing and the cotter pin numbered 23:

There are also an inner and outer spacer numbered 25 and 26. If you don't mind buying a new pin and spacers then you could use a torch to cut through the end of the lower arm itself and the spacers and center of the pin. Getting it that hot should loosen things up.

Some of them don't had the cotter pins or castle nuts
If they have the nut off it doesn't matter.
I took some out of a 3930 axle housing last year, They where rusted in real tight.
Took a while to heat the bottom of the housing but plenty of heat and a big crescent wrench on the flats of the pin got it turning to loosen it up so I could knock them out.
Concentrate most of the heat on the outside casting , the pin is much larger in that part.

Yep, we tried a big crescent wrench trying to turn it smacking it with a hammer. I maybe didn't get enough heat in it though.

All, thanks for the suggestions!

They can be a real bear.
We have had to cut through them with a
slitting wheel then use heat and drive out
the remains with a heavy drift punch and
bfh.
If we ever have to take them out we use lots
of antiseize compound on reassembly.

last one I fought to get out, we put a floor jack on a wrench on the flats with a fair amount of tension
and then heated the bolt. After it got hot enough it barely turned and then we sprayed it good and drove it out.
