Looking at buying a 5000 project and was wondering how much i should pay for it. Not running (no injection pump), ok tires, rops,
8 speed, missing some sheet metal. I know the guy had it advertised for $1500 i while before, and I think that is too much since
there is know way to test the tractor since it doesn't run. I have emailed him and he will sell it as a whole. Let me know what
you think, I have provided the url so you can look at the add. Thanks

$500 tops, you would be jumping into a project not knowing how much you?ll have invested in it down the road..

There are parts on the tractor that if added up would be over $1500 for sure. However you could wait a month of Sundays till they get sold. In my opinion the tractor is worth $500-$1000 as it sits. From the photos and the known missing fuel pump and who knows what else is wrong, it is a money pit to get running and usable.

Lowball him and if he refuses and no counter offer, just walk away.......don't walk too fast. You can always give him a couple of days and if he doesn't contact you you can refresh his memory as to your offer....maybe bump it up a tad.

Trader around here low balled everybody. When he didn't get his way he just walked off whining. You'd be surprised how many people had second thoughts what their stuff was worth and stopped him in his tracks.......yes me included but sometimes I just wanted to get rid of something and he was a way to get it off the property.

I didn't read the link but I learned a long time ago. if you want something, posture yourself to jump on it at your first opportunity. Procrastination means that someone else will buy it out from under you.

Case in point, I had been looking for a 3910 to run my 6' drum mower. I like Fords, didn't want a row crop frame yet wanted the power/hydraulic capacity to handle this 900+# thingamabob hanging off the right side of the tractor when transporting.

Searched all over and found some that were distant and don't like that idea. Shopped Dallas Craigs list and none to be seen. Kept after it and one day I just went on and on through CL and low and behold this sucker pops up. Called the seller, made an appointment the next day, loaded up my trailer, went by the bank, went over, made an offer, haggled one cycle (gave me the right response) and loaded that sucker on the trailer.
