Lift pump...not lifting?

Trying to bleed the fuel lines in my 66 5000 SOS, and not getting any fuel TO the filters. Good flow to the lift pump, but while pumping the lever, no fuel gets to the filter at all. I have taken off the line from the lift pump to the filters after pumping the lever a bunch (over 50-100 times), and there is some fuel in the line that comes out, but not much. Do you think the pump is just no good anymore? I was able to bleed just fine a couple weeks ago...before I screwed something else up on the tractor and had to start over.

Turn the engine over exactly one revolution and try again. Odds are high that the pump camshaft currently has your lift pump diaphragm pushed all of the way out.

I had that problem once with a 6000. The lift pump was full of something that looked like Vaseline. It worked fine after I cleaned that out.

Will try, good tip!

Went out and it worked! Bled like usual. Didn?t try and start the tractor up yet though, didn?t have time to run it hot right now...wasted the whole morning trying to figure out that silly pump!

If you do not feel resistance when using the priming lever you are on the cam.
