Update on the 850

I got a little time to work on the 850 yesterday. (it hasn't ran in a couple years) New battery cables, fully charged battery, fixed some of the wiring, put in the new ignition switch and spark plugs. I got one big back-fire out of the carb, after that it would just turn over and not even try to start. Then the rain started, and I was done for the day.

Does the engine spin over like it has lost compression.

When the rain stops just break it down into spark? fuel? compression? timing? in that order.

It sounds like it should start right up while it's cranking over. I had an 8N that was the same way, it's problems were all electrical. I think this 850 has the same problems. It had very weak spark, P.O. said it didn't have spark. I'm going to see if spark is stronger, then go from there. I have a new wiring harness to put on. It definitely needs one.
