Got the new 1 wire alternator and
attempted to get put on. Wiring
was a little odd. But thanks to
several folks here posting answers
and a phone call to Old and a call
and several texts to grayrider
it's on and charging. What an
awesome place when you can get
help from all over the country.
Few odd things about the wiring
but it works. I tried to wire it
like my 960 but when I hooked up
the battery cable the tractor went
to cranking ,with the key on the
seat!! So I changed it up a
bit and it works. Thanks again
Grayrider and old for answering my
calls!
I'm a great artist ain't I? Lol

Glad to hear you got things working. Is that gauge a voltage gauge or an amp gauge?

I'm not familiar with that conversion but from my limited knowledge of things electrical, my mind is thinking that if it's a voltage gauge it should go between the switched side of the key and ground so that it tells you what the voltage is only when the key is on and won't drain the battery when the key is off, and if it's an amp gauge it should go between the alternator and the battery otherwise it's not showing the actual charging current, it's showing the current draw from both the alternator and the battery out to the rest of the system.

Here is a picture of the gauge. It
was showing discharge ,with
alternator charging so a switched
wires. Now it reads right.

Like Sean PA said, if you really want to read battery charging current and not simply alternator output current.
