Ford 545d won't go into reverse

Hi
I've been looking around online for a problem I've been having with my 1995 ford 545d.My dad replaced the forward solenoid before he passed away and mentioned the reverse going out.The tractor doesn't go into reverse but if I let it sit for a while and rev it up a little it clicks into reverse once in reverse it works fine.Is this signs of a bad solenoid?forward works perfectly.

Your problem may be in the switch on the steering column, not the solenoid. Check it for function with a meter. Next check the solenoids. There's plenty of YouTube videos on how to use a meter and/or how to check a solenoid with a meter. If that doesn't work for you, try swapping the solenoids on the valve and see if reverse works and forward becomes intermittent.
