I just rebuilt my 59 901 diesel. The only part not new or rebuilt is my Roosa Master Pump. I keep having issues with the metering valve getting stuck in closed position after shut down. I can lightly tap the pump with a wrench with throttle open and the tractor will fire back up. This will be my 3rd tear down of the pump. The plungers and valve were stuck first time. I also had alot of crap in the screen. The second time the plungers were fine as was the screen.I can see no debris or residue on the metering valve or orifice that is stays in. I cleaned it the first time with some fuel and a lint free rag. Second time I used a 600 grit emery cloth coated in oil to try and polish it up without removing any of the surface of the valve. It really didn't seem to do much. The tractor started up fine, but once shut down it is still sticking. I pulled the pump off and have it sitting on the bench currently. It is clean inside. The valve just sticks. The slightest bit of effort and it pops open. Any suggestions? Can I polish the valve with something more aggressive? Thanks for any help guys.
