59 901 Keeps destroying belts

I have fresh rebuilt diesel 901 that now has roughly 8 hours on it. The engine keeps destroying belts. I have changed over to an alternator, and it has a new water pump. I have made sure tension is good on the belt. My new alternator kit is a 1 wire Delco style. I know on my big block chevy car that the 1 wire still had to have that 2 pin field connector with an ignition ran to it and a jumper down to post on alternator output. Could my lack of that plug be causing my alternator to burn the belts? I do notice it is unusually hot. I also checked and made sure all the pulleys were perfectly inline with each other. Thanks for any help in advance guys!

Is your alternator belt pulley the same groove width as the other ones? Some of those alternators use skinny belts.

Does your setup look like photo? If so, as RR indicated the small 1/2" alternator pulley is too narrow. Most resellers offer a 5/8" wide alternator pulley that match the crank and water pump.

I forgot someone had their governor rod moving back and forth under the belt like a saw because they didnt have their alternator positioned correctly or their belt was too long.

This is the current situation. The new water pump and alternator are both 1/2 pulleys. The factory crank shaft pulley appears to be 5/8. I have no governor rod that can conflict with it. I put a gates 44.5" belt on it last week. The tractor has gone 12 hours with this new belt with zero issues. I currently also have the alternator charge wire totally unhooked. So the alternator is not being tasked with charging anything in the current form. The current belt path is perfectly linear from pulley to pulley in current state. I am going to hook the alternator back into the equation along with wiring the 2 pin harness the alternator did not supposedly require to excite it correctly. I can't decide if I need to buy another water pump pulley/alternator pulley at this point if the belt burns up when under a load for charging.
