I have fresh rebuilt diesel 901 that now has roughly 8 hours on it. The engine keeps destroying belts. I have changed over to an alternator, and it has a new water pump. I have made sure tension is good on the belt. My new alternator kit is a 1 wire Delco style. I know on my big block chevy car that the 1 wire still had to have that 2 pin field connector with an ignition ran to it and a jumper down to post on alternator output. Could my lack of that plug be causing my alternator to burn the belts? I do notice it is unusually hot. I also checked and made sure all the pulleys were perfectly inline with each other. Thanks for any help in advance guys!
