Ford tractor hood

I picked up this hood today in Highland NY, I thought it looked
interesting. I don?t have anything to put it on right now but am
sure a project in the future may be worthy of it. I was told it
was for a Worthington power unit??

Nice! Looks like its very straight with nothing more than a tiny bit of surface rust. It looks an awful lot like 600/800 series sheetmetal. If you send it to me, I'll try it on and send you a picture. HeHe

Worthington bought ford tractor parts to build there mowers. Didn't know they had made power units but it's possible. The hood would have been use with the 134 engine. it would have had flat dash, you could see where the tails have been added to hook up to a standard tractor.

It's likely that the hood was produced about the same time as the jub/NAA or possibly early hundred series. Worthington bought the hoods and industrial engines along with ford truck trans and ford rears.
Worthington require no ford script on the hood. Here you can see in my earlier Model F chief that the hood is clearly an 8n but without the ford script.

WORTHINGTON-TORO used Ford engines and other parts on many of their models. Some were built on Model T and Model A frames and engines, some used Ford Industrial Engines. These tractors were designed to be used on golf courses and municipal city park maintenance.

That is a neat piece, have seen a few Worthington tractors over the years, as described below, ford tin & and engine.

Where in Highland NY did you get this ? That decal is for what is now D.E.P. which handles NYC water, likely the tractor was used at a reservoir for maintenance.

Reason I ask is that on N Chokidee road, there's a whole bunch of old iron in a pasture with cattle. Easy to see from the road. One of those places where you wish you could just look around, lot of interesting old iron to say the least. Reason I know about it is that I did a bunch of work for the state owned juvenile center further down that road.

Kirk, that is a cool machine. How about some information on it? I've never seen one like it! Maybe start a new thread? Thanks

Here is what the jub/NAA worthington model looked like (the one with the golf ball cage)
