850 muffler outlet pipe support

I have a late 57 ford 850 s/n 133801 with a vertical exhaust. The cast iron muffler outlet support has eroded away and with a little help from me is broken. It has been previously welded and there is not much left of it.
According to my parts book the vertical exhaust system was not available until 58.My ford dealer has not been able to come up with a part that fits. His steel replacement part pipe size is to large.
Have any of you more experienced ford guys ran into this and have a fix?
Thanks

Take the steel replacement pipe, available here and at several vendors, and the new muffler to a muffler shop and have the muffler exit pipe expanded to fit the new vertical adapter - also get your vertical pipe made and fitted at the same time -

I did this last month on a 960 -

the vertical pipe is not exactly vertical, it leans out a few degrees away from the hood - I don't know if all vertical exhaust adapters are like this or I just got a special one - I can handle it, but if you are OCD, you may want to have this feature adjusted by the muffler shop also -

The vertical pipe on my 881 looks to be pretty much straight up, but I got my elbow pipe from my NH dealer, sometimes after market parts are close but not exactly right.

Or you can bend the pipe where ever you like and mount the
muffler above as the previous owner did to my 960.
Can't say there's any real advantage to this arrangement, but
it does seem to reduce heat below the gas tank.
