Convert 800 gas tank/sediment to Jubilee setup ???

I have an 860 that needs a gas tank repair or replacement.

I also have an Jubilee. I really like the gas tank/sediment bowl/carburetor setup on the Jubilee.

As for the 860 setup, well, I'm not a fan of gas dripping down onto the engine from the shutoff valve when the o-ring gets tired, or the fuel line getting super heated as it runs behind the manifold.

So my question is this: On my 860, can I replace the original tank with the NAA600800G tank from this site, and then use the outer edge threaded opening for a Jubilee-style sediment bowl? I would then remove the existing sediment bowl and banjo bolt from the 860 carb and replace it with an elbow and strainer assembly, so the fuel line could go straight into the carb from the sediment bowl mounted up on the gas tank....similar to how it's done on the Jubilee.

Has anyone tried this and does it work, or am I overlooking something?

Thanks!
Jeff

Sounds like a lot of work/cost to avoid replacing the occasional O-ring. Don't know about tank fit, but you will need to work out something on that banjo fitting....it is not pipe threads on that hollow bolt.

Best I remember its 3/8 fine thread... 3/8X24 but don't hold me to it...
orrect for some carbs.... and 7/16 X 20 on others. Fuel line sizes were different, too.

The newer aftermarket repop Sediment Bulb Assemblies for the Hundred Series models are notorious for having leaking issues. The problem is being worked on by one reliable parts supplier. Now, you could swap out carbs and sediment bulbs, but will have other issues. Why? They both use different M/S carbs. The NAA is a 134 cu/in engine, and uses the 2N-9155 sediment bulb -the same as all N-Series models. The 860 has a 172 cu/in engine and uses a larger carb and sediment bulb. As far as the gas tank is concerned, I don't know where you got that part number from but it ain't right. The correct gas tank p/n is: NAA-9002-A, fits both 134 and 172 models, 53-64, and has hole for side or center fuel shut off, rear support included. It matters where you buy from. Hint: DC Parts. You can buy from whomever you choose. I prefer to get reliable service and quality parts out of the gate and not have to muck around with wrong parts not working and have to deal with returns. The NAA uses the Marvel-Schebler TSX-428 Carb, the 860 uses the M/S TSX-593, 706 Carb.
