I have a '65 Ford 3000 diesel. It runs good, but the injection pump leaks, so bad that when I turn off the fuel valve at the tank, it would loose prime on the IP. When I would bleed the injector lines, there is a big difference in the amount of fuel coming out of #1 line vs #2 & #3(almost nothing) but It will start & run ok. I took apart cleaned/resealed the IP, then bench tested with fuel, turning by hand, getting the same results as before (but no leaks).
I did not disassemble the rotor head. Since the same rollers and plungers are used for all ports, the cam also looks normal so I assumed it was ok. Is it possible that rotor head may be partially plugged in the #2 & #3 ports? Is there anything inside the rotor head that would be damaged if I line up ports 2 & 3 and spray carb cleaner through them? Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
