Ford 3000 rear tires 13.6x28 can I go smaller tire

Is there a more popular size tire and rim for the rear of my ford 3000 to save me money on tires I just use it to mow and lift stuff when needed not farming with it

Same here - 3000 diesel and I run 12.4s
They are a little short for some things. Plowing for example. Take too big a bite with the plow and the smaller tires will dig themselves in Quick!
Have had mine sitting on the drawbar hanger more than once because I wasn't fast enough on the clutch.
For most tasks they are fine.

The parts site lists a 12"x24" wheel that was available, so you could even go down to 13.6" or 12.4" wide 24" tire if you can find the wheels.

Just picked up a CEAT 13.6x28 from tyres international for $299 out the door. Put it on last weekend with two of my sons there to learn.

I have a '63 2000D and '65 3000D. When purchasing both, new rubber was required. Both having 12" rims and I chose the 13.6 (stated,
mounted on a 12" rim) over the 12.4 because I wanted less ground compaction. I have not been sorry. Would 12.4s have worked?
Probably.
