With my many hydraulic issues, I tend to take the top cover off quite a lot - now the cab is back on my tractor I put a strap over the roof and hang a snatch block from it. I then use the electric winch on my 4x4 to raise it up. There are 14 bolts around the cover, of different lengths, plus the pins from the lift arms, seat bolts etc.

Made this to keep the bolts in order:

Has the advantage that I can put the other bits inside whilst I'm playing around with the oily mess within!

Always a good idea to track nuts and bolts when removing especially those parts that require different length bolts in specific places. I do need to ask first what model tractor are you working on, and secondly why do you have so many hydraulic issues that you need to have to remove the top cover so often? Diagnose the true root cause of the problem, get it fixed, and then no worries for another 20 years or so.

It's a 4000. Initially my problems were caused by a clogged pickup strainer which I solved by splitting the tractor and replacing the filter with a remote adaptor. At some point I ended up breaking the flow control valve so made up my own bypass adaptor for that which I'm having teething issues with. Believe me, if I could solve it once and for all, I would...
