1620 running on 2 cyl

I had my 1620 serviced today and was told it is only running on 2 cyl
The cyl closest to the steering wheel doesn't seem to be firing.
Is the easiest way to try to diagnose is replace the injector?
Thanks for the thoughts

You can loosen the fuel line at each injector to see which one is missing. Dont let high pressure diesel get under your skin, its bad for your health.

The guy who did the service said he removed each injector one at a time and the injector closest to the back didn't have any change to the engine.
I recently bought the tractor from the original owner. It has about 3000hrs on it. I am not sure how long it has been acting this way as it has sounded ok to me but this is my first diesel anything! What
type of harm can be done running it on 2 of 3 cyls?
I did order new injectors today.

Never a good idea to buy parts before you troubleshoot. You could have swapped injectors between #1 and #3 to see if the symptoms moved with the injector or stayed with the cylinder. Any number of things can cause your problem, a bad injector of this style isn?t one of the first things i?d guess.

1620 has a separate injector pump for each cylinder. So even if your problem is, for sure, a fuel problem, how do you know the issue is not with the pump for the cylinder not firing?

I'd crack the injector line at the pump first and see if there is a fuel-charge. If so - then pop the injector out - check compression of the engine and test the injector.

True. Maybe I wasted some money on injectors.
I don't have any experience with diesel engines so I was going by what the mechanic said and he suggested just to get a pair
of new injectors.
I'll report what I find after the new injectors come in since I don't want to go messing with swapping the injectors to troubleshoot
myself.

Why get a pair if the engine has 3 cylinders? I just don?t follow any of the ?advise? you are getting. Guy sounds like he is fond of spending OPM and swapping parts.

I ordered a pair because I was under the impression there is one injector for the pump and one for the engine.
If I look at the engine looks like there are 6 injectors.
Again, I have no experience with these so I?m learning as I go.

I did notice today that the injector on top of engine (one closest to the steering wheel that seems to not be firing) has fuel pooling around the top of the injector where is screws in, this is after it sat overnight.
When I ordered my new filters from Messick?s last week I asked for injector seals and they sent me regular looking washers. The guy who worked on it recently said there are ones that have 2 small holes on opposite sides. Do new injectors come with these seals?

Thanks for the help and my ignorance!

Plain copper washers seal the injector tips washers with small holes seal the return line. There are three cylinders and three injectors. There are three glow plugs. They are smaller and have a flat electrical conductor connected to them.

Had new injectors installed today. The #1 cylinder isn't getting as much fuel as the other 2. When breaking the line at injector for the 2 and 3 injectors the rpms drop and engine dies. The #1 cyl when breaking that line not much happens.
Checked compression on all 3 cyl and all are 195-210.

Our thought is the injector pump for the #1 cyl isn't pumping as much as it should.
There also seems to be a solenoid connected to the injector pump. Is there at chance that isn't working correctly?
It seems the pump has an injector for each cyl but those injectors are different than the engine ones. True?
I'm trying to find someone who knows these much better than I or my mechanic buddy does to figure out what the issue is.
Replacing the injector pump doesn't seem too each.

Finally having a chance to update this post!
Fix was a simple solution....the line from the injector pump to the injector/cyl that wasn't firing was clogged!
