Ford 5600 3-point arm stabilizers

Guys - Need some feedback on this subject.

There are two types of stabilizers available for the 5600.
First type is a chain with an adjuster in the middle.
Second type is a steel bar with holes for adjustments.

Going to be using a plow and back blade on the tractor. Any feedback on which of these would work better for those use cases would be helpful.

Thanks,

Tool

The bar type won't get gunked up with dirt like the screw type. Screw type can tighten so absolutely no side play. Good for blading/mowing. Don't use when plowing though or at least allow some movement...

Blue one made of tube steel with holes, hands down, very easy to use and they work great.
Turnbuckles will always need regular maintenance or they will seize up, nothing but a pain to deal with. I've had both, my 4630 has the tube steel with holes, in my opinion, there is nothing better, they do the job they are needed for.

Years ago I put the square tubing stabilizer bars on my 5000 Ford and threw the chains away, was the best money I ever spent for that tractor, still have it and use all the time

I don't have a 5000 Ford. I just bought a '88 3910 II (47 hp) last week that has the top picture; the sliding shaft with pins and having that type of stabilizer is one of the main reasons I bought it. Back in 2007 I bought a new Branson 6530C (65 hp) and one of the main reasons was that it used that type of stabilizer, course it also had lift arm extenders and a 3 pt lift lever at the rear of the tractor right where you are when you are trying to attach an implement....for a guy who works alone, priceless. Use one of those and you'll never go back to the chain......never!

Morning friends. I don't mean to hijack this post but someone gave me one like the square tube one. I have a Ford 3000 will it work on it and does anybody have a picture of how to attach it? Thanks.

I thought about adding to my 3000 but not sure it will fit. There is a bracket that is different than that provided with the 3000. It mounts to the axle housing with the U bolts that hold the fender on and I'm thinking 2 per side are required...one on each side of each bracket. On my '65 the fender is not held on with U bolts, just plain bolts connected to an angle bracket on the underside, that does that job and holds the stabilizer arm pins. However, if the dimensions of my fender installation are the same as with the 3910 for example, I could drop the existing angle bracket and install the new style bracket and the stabilizer bar....assuming I can deal with the second u bolt if necessary.

Other thing your existing connecting link from the lift arm to the rock-shaft arm (the lifting mechanism) connection bolt is where it connects on the 3910. If the dimensions are different on your lift arm, you may need to drill an additional hole in your lift arm....no biggie. Hummmmmm you may have given me the motivation to dig into it and see if it will work on the 3000. Might just do that...good winter project.

(quoted from post at 07:15:26 06/06/18) Morning friends. I don't mean to hijack this post but someone gave me one like the square tube one. I have a Ford 3000 will it work on it and does anybody have a picture of how to attach it? Thanks.

They make them for a 3000, but ones for a 5000 won't fit a 3000's lift arms.

The outside chains are the biggest curse ever designed. They constantly pull the arms OUT into the tire cleats when not hooked to a plow. They then damage the tires or in a few cases actually break off the mounting ears on the bottom of the axle trumpet for the lift arms. Then you out $600 to $1600. The turnbuckles are usually rusted up and frozen. Did I tell you that these are the worse design ever dreamed up?? You have to keep a rope or wire to tie the two arms "in" when not in use.

The square tubing type are wonderful, and work great. The inside sway chains work great as well.

Totally agree. Just didn't know till I was shopping for a 3910 that Ford had used them way back in the '80's on their 50 hp tractor. I'm
thinking seriously about modifying my 3000 and adding a pair. I think they will marry up to the existing bracket/stabilizer pin with the pin
removed and using that hole. Since the end pivots, it doesn't matter that the arm is coming into the bracket at an angle. ebay has them. I
just convinced myself.....headed over there...bye.....grin.
