Broke my 3600 lift arm mount

Well durn, was mowing with my flail mower and somehow got it in a bind with the result being a broken lift arm mount stud on the right side. Am I right in thinking I will have to take the right side bell off the rear end to replace it?

Yes, there is a castle nut with a cotter pin on the end of the lower lift arm pin shaft on the inside and the shaft is tapered so that it only comes out toward the outside, and tightening the inside nut is what keeps the pin sealed to the tapered hole to keep the fluid from leaking out there.

That is what I was afraid of.. New pin and trumpet gasket on order. Have a friend already tell me he would help, I have an engine hoist.

Couldn't find anything specific to the 3000 or 3600 but one Youtube video for a hundred series showed the whole assembly removed in one piece, hub and all, less tire and fender. If the 3600 comes apart the same way it might not be too bad.

BobReeves,
Read up on this before you start, I have a nagging feeling that you have to access those pins from one side only as the ring and pinion/differential get in the way if you take the "wrong" side off. Could someone tell me if I am all wet on this or not, PLEASE?

The pin is attached to the axle trumpet itself, so it comes along with the trumpet when you remove it. So as far as I know, if you only need to work on one pin then you can take that one side off. If you want to work on the differential itself then you need to take the left side axle trumpet off as that is the only way to remove the differential gears. Also, if you want to work on both pins and only take one side off then it would be the left side, and you would pull the differential gears to access the right side pin.

Got the trumpet off this morning, castle nut is off but that stud is stuck. I was beating on it using a 1 inch round bar and the biggest one handed hammer I have.

Do I need to break out the OA torch, lots of metal in that trumpet to heat up. Any other ideas?

I won, pin is out. Lots of heat and pounding did the trick. When the new pin and gasket gets here it is ready to be put back together.

Had a little trouble getting it apart because my hoist wasn't supporting the trumpet straight. Going to pick up a couple 9/16 X 6" bolts and cut the heads off to use as guides when I put it back together.
