Ford 3000 Select-o-Speed PTO operation

Hi, I posted this on the generaI YT forum and somebody suggested I try this ford forum. I have a 1970 Ford 3000 with Select-O-Speed Transmission. I have recently purchased a PTO driven Woodland Mills Chipper which is connected to the 3 point linkage and the PTO. Obviously the tractor is stopped but running at high revs when using the chipper. The Ford has no trouble lifting or running the chipper.
My question is should the Select-O-Speed be in Neutral or Park when using the chipper?
I have been selecting "Park" but I notice the gearbox housing gets quite hot. From the repair manual I notice that the internals of the gearbox are set totally differently from Park than they are in Neutral. That is, the bands are selected differently between the 2 positions. I can understand the gearbox getting hot while working the paddocks etc but when the tractor is stopped why all the heat?
Anybody qualified to assist me here? The manuals I have do not cover this type of operation.
The tractor is a little beauty and never lets me down so I would hate to be doing it any damage. (the tractor and I live in Australia). (Thanks in advance)

PARK It will pull its self in neutral. I would not trust the parking brakes. The iron case doesn't disapate heat to good but they were run 8 hrs plus when new and only tractor on place.

The hydraulic pump in the transmission is always running whenever the engine is running. So no matter what gear it is in, even Park and Neutral, there is a restriction of flow due to the fact that something (servos and/or clutch packs) is always getting hydraulic pressure applied, so the pump is always doing work and thus producing heat.

I think that to keep it the coolest you would need to block down the inching pedal, which dumps the fluid back to the sump so no servos or clutch packs would be getting any hydraulic pressure.

Yep! Park. All stationary work with your tractor should be done in Park. You don't want the tractor moving on you.
