5610 Coupler connect dripping, inherited tractor, please hel

Hi guys,

Pretty simple question, I took over the farm from dad years ago, and I was left a ford 5610.

This is my work horse, and she is down and I really need to get her running.

On the back of the tractor is a hydraulic coupler, with two attachments, and two levers on the side that I put up and down to release and lock.

When I attach a hose, and lock it, it starts to DRIP, not small, but a rush of fluid. I just kept adding fluid, but it is getting too bad.

I spent all night looking for research and I can't find anything! about this online.

How hard is it to remove and replace this, and also could it just be a seal? If anyone has any information, please get back to me, I will answer any questions and update.

Thank you!

Take the rubber boot off of the female couplers and figure out EXACTLY where the oil is coming from (there are a number of different possibilities). The simplest would be a leaking seal inside the female coupler - very easy to change.

Thank you bern!

I will check that out tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks for the reply.

I've grew up working on my own vehicles but the tractor is brand new to me. The rubber boot? Is that just the end of the coupler? I will start to take some things off tomorrow and report back.

Again, thanks for the reply.

There is no rubber boot on it? It's just a metal receiver, that the hose connects too, I push it in, and then push the lever down to lock it. That's when it starts dripping.

on my 5610 there was a damaged needle on the female fitting that make it leak. in the center is a small needle looking end to allow it to "high flow". The edge of the needle was broken and that one fitting leaked. Had to change it out. The high flows are pretty pricey.

Hey sotxbill,

Thank you, yeah, I learned how to 3-bottom plow this spring, and you are right, at first it was fine to top off every few turns, but it
catches up too you.

How hard is it to take apart the coupler? It this something I can do?

I am going to work on it tomorrow, please check back tomorrow night!

There's a o-ring and a backup washer inside the coupler that can be replaced to stop that leak.
I've got one spool leaking on my 6610 that needs the o-ring replaced.

You'll need something like a dental pick to dig them out.

Now that I think about it, the broken needle was on my 6700 and the 5610 had missing locking balls on the coupler. My memory is not , well I forgot. Your 5610 should have the closed center setup and the coupler will unscrew from the housing to work on.

Correction, theres only a o-ring that needs replaced, I had one start leaking on me today.
Went to my local NH dealer and they gave me an o-ring that looked to be made of white plastic.
O-ring is NH # 9861431, there one for each outlet
Dust cap covers two outlets and is NH #E1NND954AB

4 o-rings and 2 dust caps cost me $60 but it's not squirting oil all over the pto shaft and front of the baler anymore.
