861 light up front?!

hi, all,

i have had a few forfs and fergusons...9n,
jubilee, 640, and an 841 and now an 861.
the jubilee had a loader, the 640 is tired,
and.... the 861 has one bad cylinder and
needs resleeved if not more.

i mowed with it today with a 5 foot flail
mower and heavy 4 foot grass didnt slow it
a bit.

bowever holy cow does tbis tractor seem
light up front. i gently let out the clutch
in second gear and thw front wheels barely
touch the ground for a second. it feels
like if my shoe slipped off the pedal shed
resr up and flip. none of my other fords
have felt like tbis but none had quite this
many ponies either except the 841. that
one i sold so long ago i dont remember the
feel of it. yeah the 640 will get steered
with my feet if i put a heavy disc on the
back and pick it up but this feels quite a
bit more shaky.

opinions welcome!

Yes, heavy 5' alamo flail probably 500 pound? but my 640 didnt flinch a bit and doesnt feel this light up front at all.

Does the 640 have wheel weights on the front wheels or bumper weights, or filled front tires? Or maybe a loader?

Fords are a little light up front, and with over 800 pounds behind you, I bet you could pick up the front by grabbing and lifting the bumper.
With that said, a ever so slightly 'grabby' clutch (oil, rust, etc)
will make the problem seem worse.
(might explain the difference between your similar tractors)
