Few Questions-Parking Brake, Throttle Linkage, and Paint

Finally getting around to attempting to work on my 75 3400. Found a local 3000 for parts so I grabbed the hydraulic lines since someone replaced my pressure line with hydraulic hose. The hose was so big they had to remove the parking brake.

Removed the parking brake from the parts tractor and upon installing it on mine, the ratchet doesnt line up. Whats going on here? It seems the original post that the ratchet pivots on is longer than the one I got from the parts tractor but it still looks like it would hardly engage. I took some measurements if someone could please check theirs to see if my pedals are bent that bad. The original stud is sitting on top of the one from the parts tractor.

Im going to put the original stud on this evening but its slightly bent, so idk if I can use it or bend it back. Should a spacer go behind the ratchet paw to keep it in place?

Second question, what is the top ball used for? Someone has zip tied a spring to it... the throttle is so tight that spring isnt doing anything useful. I cant find it on the NH parts diagrams and Ive not been able to find it on any 3000's Ive seen in person.

Last question, what paint does everyone use on their fords? Do you use primer or just use something like rustoleum or krylon? Both have ford blue and say they can be put on bare metal. Spray or gallon paint?

Thanks!

Not sure what the deal is with the brake lock, if the pedal arms where bent the pedals wouldn't line up as good as your's do.
The brake pawl has to line up with the hole on the foot board so temporary mount the foot board and see where the pawl is positioned.

The extra throttle ball is for the foot board mounted throttle pedal normally found on the industrial tractors, but hardly ever seen on the early ag models.

Ford engine blue is not the same as Ford tractor blue, make sure it says Ford Tractor Blue on the can.
I normally get my paint at a NH tractor dealer but there are a couple of brands that are pretty close.

On my 2000 the parking brake is attached to the floorboard itself and comes off with it. You might have an inner brake pedal from a tractor like this?

Thanks for the info. Ill bolt the foot board up and see how things line up.

Morgan, it wouldnt surprise me if it doesnt have the original pedals on it. I may buy the pedals from the parts 3000 if he still has them.

Got a chance to put the old bracket on and the paw lines up... Kinda...

Its obvious that it needs some sort of spacer and its also obvious the pedal is slightly bent. Someday Ill need to get a torch to bend it back.

Does anyone know how this was originally setup? Yes I know I could get a bunch of washers but I would rather it be like it was new. The parts diagram shows nothing.
