The original subject was "Early 3000 front spindles".

In case anyone is wondering, I couldn't figure out why the new spindles I bought would not fit the front end on my 1965 3000 ag tractor. As it turns out, the spindles are a match for 4-cylinder 2000 spindles. So maybe someone swapped the axle ends? The bushings are the same size but there is no seal like the 3-cylinder ones.

Unless anyone has seen a very early 3000 with those spindles before?

I just completed replacement of the left spindle on my '65 Ford 3000. It was the first time I had done this, but, fortunately, I have some friends who offered advice. I apparently got the right parts, spindle, thrust bearing, wheel bearings, wheel seal, dust seal, and front & top bushings. I had the worst time trying to get my spindle installed after I had replaced the old bushings with the new. It seemed an impossible fit. I wish I had tested my spindle by installing it with the old bushings to check clearance and fit, but I didn't. My advice from friends was to use a grinding wheel or whatever I could get into the installed bushing to grind them down to allow the spindle to fit. It took a lot, a lot of time, but I finally got the new spindle installed.

During the process, I found that bushing reamers are made for the purpose I needed, but they cost several hundred dollars.

If you happen to have a Holley carb for a 3000, let me know, I need a spring float that I lost when overhauling one I have.

Wishin' you well.

I was able to use old spindles with new bushings. But i got some reamers on ebay just in case.

I have my old worn out carb complete with spring. Not sure if you can contact me through here or not.
