6610 pto slipping?

ok so bought a 6610 last fall to use to cut hay and a backup for the baler if ever need it. today we tried to use a 3pt tiller on it for the garden and it took a couple of secs for the pto to engage and when started digging with it would slow down and eventually stop. guessing the pto clutch is bad? or could it be something else? anything that could be out of adjustment or anything? the lever was staying engaged not popping out. its single speed ipto.

how much trouble is it to replace the clutches?

Don't jump to any conclusions until you start with a pressure test. The problem could be in the dual power, assuming you have it. If so, did you by chance notice any difference with regards to PTO operation between low and high range on the dual power?

ill have to get me a manual first, hoping my buddy has one for his 5610, cheapest decent manual i can find is 275 for a jensales one i doubt the IT manual would be any good.

First you need to do a pressure test and if that comes out ok u need to remove the pro clutches. Which I believe you can do by taking the 3pt cover off.

got around to checking pressure today, got the oil temp up and installed a gauge. i had to guess on rpm since tach is broke but should be real close to the recommended 850 rpm and with pto off gauge reads 30psi with it on drops to 25 psi. i also tried it around 16-1700rpm and got 60psi off and droped to 55psi with pto on. what does the manual say i should do now?

btw my neighbor said he has a manual but lives couple hrs away and could be awhile before he comes back down this way. so might need some more scans if you dont mind bern. and thanks again.

I'm sorry I can't add anything constructive to this but got my first chuckle today.

I sometimes have to get my laughs at others expense, forgive me :p
I used to work in metro areas and refer to my neighbors that were 2-3 miles away living in the country. But most of my neighbors were closer than yours. 8) 8)

Should be over one hundred lbs...

stripped shaft, bad pump, feed hose came off pto valve?

for anyone that runs into the same problem i had, mine turned out to be a missing oring on the pickup tube on the pto valve that comes from the pump. it was completely gone and leaking like a sieve.

and a huge thanks to bern. he sent me scans of his manual that i needed to do the job and answered numerous emails. top notch guy.
