4000 industrial

Hi just bought a 4000 industrial. Has 1400S and 13099 I
believe stamped by the starter. I'm assuming the s is for
Sherman transmission. Because I know it has that. H-L-S.
Were these tractors originally 6 bolt or were they 12. The start
button doesn't work and I'm having to jump the solenoid to
attempt to start it. But no luck the starter is junk. Any help is
appreciated

If a 4-cylinder 4000, was originally 6V if gas, 12V if diesel.
I think you missed a digit on the model number, 41400 sounds more like it should be. I'd have to get a book out to check - I don't have all those models in my head. Yes, the S means the Sherman auxiliary transmission.

I have a 1964 Industrial 4000 with a Sherman over-under. Industrial but not the Heavy-duty. Backhoe and front loader on mine. Model 41301S ser. # 18114

Hi yes you're correct it's 41400 after looking more closely. I was thinking it was originally 6v just by looking how things were configured. But has been changed over to 12v as there's an alternator, new starter (that's junk from sitting) new solenoid and 12 bolt battery. Just needs a start button to make it work correctly instead of jumping the solenoid

Also. Mine is a bareback no pto or 3pt. Would parts off a 800 bolt right up? Either swap the whole rear end or replace top cover and add arms and pto?

800 has different brake system and splines on drive connector and not the same. An later 801 would be more compatible for a rear housing swap. You could add the top cover, pump, manifold, and 3pt arms off an 800
