serial numbers

I have a Ford 2000 which I believe is a 1975. The serial number is C458624, which should make it a 75. In researching serial numbers, I discovered that both the 2000 and the 2600 tractors started their serial numbers for that year with C450700. Does anyone know if Ford built both of these models at the same time in 1975? Thank you.

There is some conflicting info as to when the x600's started, but all information I've seen is that they started in LATE '75 as '76 models. I've seen x000's with build dates as late as October, and while they may be out there, I've never seen a x600 built before Nov. If you can find your model and unit numbers, either on the bellhousing or on the foil tag under the hood (if it's still there), we can tell you exactly what model it is, and when it was built, down to the shift.

Thanks FordFarmer. I do have all the other numbers so I know it was built in April of 1975. I thought maybe it was a 2600 but I even have the original owner's manual which is for the 2000. Thanks again for your help. Interesting stuff. The model number is B1023C and the unit is 5D04B.

2000 gas with live pto and 8 spd trans, good combo that you don't see often, most of the 2000's I've seen around here were 4 spd or 6 spd with trans pto.

2600 model codes started with BA.

Hey thanks! It also has the optional hand transmission brake and the front wheel hubs are larger than my brothers 3000. Yes, with power steering and that 8 speed, I really like it. Low hours and was never on a farm. Was sold new to a municipality and then a landscaper.
