Gauge of Wire

What gauge wire is ran from a solenoid to ignition switch, and then gauges of wire ran from ignition switch to the coil in a 1963 Ford tractor? Any specific wire type as well?

Dunno OEM without going to measure. Guess I'd use 14 though perhaps 16 would suffice.

Id run 12 from the switch on and 16 from the solenoid to the switch. That way if you have a short the 16 gauge will act as a fuse link.

do believe that the wire to/from solenoid will be carrying full generator/alternator current. If it is in fact wired that way, I wouldn't use less that 12GA for that one.

Thanks everyone.

I am rewiring my initiation circuit from solenoid to coil and was curious. I am going to wire it up using 12 gauge since that is what I have on hand.
