Back in November, I had asked about the shim under the injector pump. I am now reassembling the engine. I installed the pump drive gear into the block. I put the pump on it, and it rocks around. I took it back off to make sure the drive was all the way in. I pulled the drive back out, then put it back in, and lightly taped on it with a small hammer, and it is down solid. I used a depth mic to check it. The drive is down in .302, and the step on the bottom of the pump is .337, which makes the drive .035 to shallow in the block for the pump. When I had originally pulled it apart, there was a .060 shim under the pump, which I had asked about. I was told on here that there should not be a shim, unless the block looked worn from being loose. But the block is not worn at all, and neither is the bottom of the pump.
What is wrong, what do I need to do to make it right.
Thanks, Pat
