801 Hydraulic

The 3 point hitch on my 801 only lifts after the control valve has been in the up position for 3-5 minutes. Then it lifts slow. I changed the fluid in the past few weeks. Once its fully up it stays up even with the engine off. Not sure where to start looking.

I suspect it's losing prime due to a suction side leak. Could be the pump shaft seal, manifold O-rings or rusted thru suction tube in the case - One way to confirm suction leak is to install a barbed fitting on the pump and run a clear line back to the hydraulic fill port. Start the tractor and watch for bubbles.
