replacing the fan belt

You must unbolt the pump and slide the pump drive shaft out of the coupler that's bolted to the front pulley.

Yes.

Of course you will need to remove the pump shaft.

Having done that, there MAY be enough clearance to get the B (?) section belt between the engine pulley (with pump drive adapter attached) and the front axle. If you cannot get the new belt between, jack up the tractor beneath the front of the transmission to relieve the weight from the front axle. Of course you will need to relieve the pressure from the lift cylinders so as to avoid lifting the weight of the loader if the loader is installed.

Having done so, you will likely be able to use a suitable pry bar to slide the front axle forward enough on the front axle pin to install the belt.

If you cannot install the new belt (I will be quite surprised if you cannot.), back out the 4 bolts attaching the front axle support to the engine block about 1/4" and pry the carrier forward enough to gain necessary clearance to install the new belt. Do not remove the bolts, and do not loosen the bolts substantially without first removing the load from the front axle as previously described.

or you could google 'accu-link belt' - I'd certainly unbolt the hydraulic drive shaft and see if that will pass your regular replacement belt, but I'd use one of these adjustable belts before I'd make dramatic efforts separating the front suspension and such -

I had to replace one on my 601 last fall. I soaked the hub bolts and shaft down with Kroil. Used a angle head open end wrench to remove the bolts. Slide the hub on the shaft and had enough room between the pulley and shaft end to work the belt in. used longer bolts to pull the hub back home and then put the right bolts in.

Good Luck.
