Battery Type 1963 Ford 2000 4-Cly Gas

My battery died today and all the information on the battery has been worn off or is unreadable. Can you suggest a type of replacement battery?

Other posts I have seen deal mostly with 3-Cylinder tractor or diesel tractors. They have suggested a 17tf battery or any plain automotive battery with at least 850 CCA.

Is it the same for 4-Cylinder gas versions of this tractor? I was looking towards buying one from Advance Autoparts.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Search back a little, I think someone was just talking about that in the last few days. I could have seen it in the archives though, seemed like it was a Delco. You might type Delco battery in the search bar and find it.

BCI group size and dimensions for both 6 and 12 volt batteries:

OEM Group 1 - 6 volt battery dimensions (L x W x H): 9-1/8” x 7-1/8” x 9-3/8”
Group 55 - 12 volt battery dimensions (L x W x H): 8-5/8” x 6-16” x 8-3/8”
Group 26R - 12 volt battery dimensions (L x W x H): 8-3/16” x 6-13/16” x 7-3/4”

Brand does not matter. However I prefer one of many that are produced by Johnson Controls. these seem to be a bit better in quality. Motorcraft, Interstate, Diehard are a few that are or were JC batteries last I knew.

If your tractor is still original 6 volt, you likely want a group 1-VHD battery.
