801 ford 5 speed difference

Does anyone know the difference in the earlier live pto 5 speed trannys and the later ones? CNH shows a different nose cone and input shaft. I was trying to wrap my head around how the gears in the tranny would be different. Is the position of the first gear in the front of the tranny different than the later models?

there was an early production 5 speed with a different ratio 1st gear (or was it 5th gear?) - the I&T shop manual tells about that - apparently they didn't make many of the odd ones - I don't know about other differences, but didn't they change the output shaft spine number in later years?

output shaft spline was changed somewhere in the 01 series. Also, I believe there was something about the way the left brake system worked. Seems like early linkage went through the transmission bell and late linkage went through the center housing . . . maybe.
