ford 4500 injector pump leak

Hi, I have a 4500 with a fuel drip leak in the throttle shaft that sits on top. I pulled the shaft out twice but I don't remember how I did it. I can't find a manual for the pump so I can name parts by real name or get instructions to fix it I figure it is a bad o-ring so I bought an o-ring kit and tried to pull the shaft out today. I could not get it out so I started putting it back together and the nut that holds the throttle and spring & stuff broke off the threaded shaft so mow I really have to get this thing out.
I remember the shaft is coned shaped and the screw shaft sticking threw it has a the lower part of the coned cut and threaded so when you screw in the shave it pulls that lower cone part up tight and I figure that is where the o-ring must go. I took a picture and I'm going to see if I can attach it being that this is my first day on the forum.
If any one can help me with this I would sure appreciate it.

The shaft goes out the bottom of the cover, after it's removed. Also best in the long run to reseal the complete pump, if not other leaks are likely to show up soon after..

With all the dirt and crap on and around that pump it?s just as well you couldn?t get it apart.

The thing is I took the shaft out just pulling it straight up and out of the pump, and then put it back in.
Now I cant figure out how to do it again.

It WILL NOT come out the top, UNLESS the spring arm is broken off the lower end. The throttle and stop shafts always remove from the bottom after the cover is off.

If the throttle was working, it's not working anymore (it's not made to be pulled out the top).

Thanks for the replies.

It still worked after each time I took it out don't ask me why, but I leaked.
it's been a few years guess I'm not recalling what I actually did to at the time. I've kept a bucket under the pump to catch the fuel, I'm just tired of it leaking and ready to fix it.
Do you know if there is a seal or o-ring in that shaft so If I get a reseal kit and remove the top I can have an easy fix? Also maybe a page with diagram's of parts on these pumps?

I don't know what you changed before.. but it wasn't the throttle OR the shut off..
Cuz theres STILL a tamperproof lead seal on the top cover..
AND you have to remove those nuts/lead seal inorder to lift up the cover to fix it..
There are 2 orings on each shaft.. DO BOTH.
Now your gonna need a throttle shaft.. You need to post the pump # so we can get you the correct one..
Either Diesel Tech or myself can furnish the part or part #..
I wouldn't start the job without the parts IN HAND, if I were you..
