Ford 2000 tractor help

Hello all, I have just purchased a Ford 2000 tractor that I believe to be a 1964. Stamped numbers are 21201, 51339 with diamonds before and after #. I am trying to find what the break down of the numbers are. I am needing to do some work on the tractor so need to know what a the good service manuals and parts catalogs to look for. I am also wanting to add a loader to the tractor and wondering what is the best way for doing the hydraulics. Would like to have a lever for loader up/down and lever for bucket tilt. Will have to be patient with me as this is my first time ever being on a post. Thank you!

sounds like a 1964 model 2000

21201

2**** - 134 ci gasoline or 144 ci diesel engine
*1*** - Industrial and agricultural models produced after 1963
**20 * - Utility-type w/adjustable front axle
*1**1 - Four-speed w/PTO

51339-1964 Serial number 38931 - up

51339 should be a '64 serial number. That would
mean it's a 4-cylinder. 21201 is the model number -
134 gas or 144 diesel (2000 series) , utility model
with adjustable front axle, and transmission driven
pto with a 4-speed.

(quoted from post at 17:52:05 03/23/18) 3 or 4 cylinder. 4 cyl will be 64, 3 will be 65 and later. Some others will get on and help you with the numbers.

The numbers given indicate that OP is correct. It's a 4 cylinder 64 or earlier. 21201 is the model #. I believe it indicates 62 - 64 2000 with 4 speed transmission. I haven't looked up the S/N, which is what 51339 is, to determine where that places it for year model.

Big T, in my opinion the 1955 Ford service manual is the best. It covers everything from 1955 to 1964 models except for the later Select-O-Speed transmission which you don't have.

As to loader, you can add a double hydraulic valve spool to your tractor to operate a loader. You may, however be more pleased with one that is self contained. That is it has its own reservoir, crankshaft mounted pump, and control valves.

That said, your 2000 front end will be light for loader work and the 4 speed transmission will leave a lot to be desired . . . unless it has a Sherman over under auxiliary transmission.

For parts go to Messick's, click on parts sales then New Holland then enter 2000 in the box.

Capital D would have been added to the model number if it was the 144 diesel. But we all know how things get switched around on these old fords

Thank you all for responding. I will have to check out the 55 service manual. There is a valve on the top of the case below the seat that I am guessing is to be use for supplying hydraulics to the loader controls, but do not know where fluid would return. I will try to attach a pic.

Go to your Ford NH dealer parts department and find the stand where the I and T service manuals are displayed. Get the manual for the 4
cylinder 2000 and 4000. In 1965, the 2000 and 4000 were changed to 3 cylinders with the 3000 being added so you don't want that
manual. I vaguely remember the numbers 21 or 41 for the manual part number.

Or TSC has them too but not that big of a selection as theirs are for many colors and they can only display so many.
