Greetings everyone

I recently picked up a 1978 Ford 515 Industrial Tractor with what I was told was a Forestry Package. Below is what Ive figured out and some blank spaces of what I still dont know about it

Pictures are in my dropbox but the forum rule to remove characters makes the link not work so guess you'll have to use your imagination

First the Forestry Package Does anyone know anything about it

My ford 515 serial 0571397
Model DU214C
Unit 8D14B
Transmission 8B06C
Rear Axle 8B10B
Engine 8C21B
Hyd Pump might be 8C 6B
Hyd Lift may be 8 7 Z but its Unreadable

Model info
DU2 515 Industrial Utility
1 Diesel - Vertical Exhaust
4 Independent PTO 540 RPM
C 8F x 2R Manual Transmission

Unit info
8 1978
D April
14 14th
B 1st shift

Loader tag info
Series Unreadable but its 745 going by the Component number
Component 19 863
Serial CL 34528
Capacity 3750 Lbs
Breakout force 4500 Lbs IIRC

tractordata has the HP at 59 but Model Number Identification 1939 1990 up pdf shows it as 56HP Not that it matters other than for curiosity sake Anyone know for sure

Can anyone tell me what the missing numbers should be on the decal for Hyd Pump and Hyd Lift

I have read that the 515 is based on the 4600 and I have found some sources for part numbers

I haven't found any more numbers stamped anywhere but the loader does block the view a lot

So I have been doing some homework
Thanks in advanced for any info. you can provide

Wow after removing all the commas hyphens periods apostrophes pound signs quotes question marks equal signs periods and all it hardly sounds like what it started out as
Hope everyone still understands

The 515 was a straight Utility model as far as I know. The "Woods" chassis model made at the same time was the 535 and had the model designators DW1 & DW2.

The missing numbers for the Hyd Pump and Hyd Lift are just the date codes for when those components were assembled. 8C 6B for the Hyd Pump would be March 6, 1968 day shift. 8 7 Z is definitely not correct for the hyd lift, but it really doesn't matter. The number should be stamped into the lift cover itself.

Other than the model number and tractor (serial) number, they are all just date codes, and the only date you really need is the Unit Number, which is when the tractor itself was assembled. All part number breaks will be based on the date of the tractor's assembly

The hp numbers vary form source to source, as some list advertised engine hp, others list advertised PTO hp, and others list Nebraska test measured PTO HP. Engine HP should be around 60 to 62 hp, and actual PTO hp should be around 50 to 52 hp. The 515 had the exact same engine, transmission and rear axle as the 4600 ag chassis version, and tractordata lists different hp numbers between them, so I never believe anything they say unless it is direct results from a Nebraska Test.

Thanks Sean that helps clear a couple things up. I hope the Hyd Pump was made in 1978 instead of 1968 though

What I think the seller was talking about as far as a Forestry Package was the 4 post ROPS and a skid plate that looks to be about a quarter inch thick steel plate but to me the plate looks like someone made it as opposed to a factory made one due to an irregular cut for the oil drain

The grill guard comes with the loader as shown in the parts diagrams for the loader so I don't think it was part of a package option
