Ford 4630 Oil filter

May be a silly question but where is the engine oil filter on my 1992 4630 2WD open cab ford tractor? besides the hydraulic filter there is only a filter on the side that seams to be for the coolant.

Why don't you crack it and see if it really is for the coolant.

Only 2 times I ever saw an engine without a place for the oil filter was on a 1964 Nash Rambler with the old 3 main bearing design engine.
It was mounted on a bracket as an after thought.

The other time was an oil bypass filter of about 5 microns that had about 10% of the oil flow passing through it in a bypass mode in an
International cab over I had with a 400 hp Big Cam Cummins diesel. Reason was that 5 micron didn't allow full flow. Full flow filters usually
run around 20 micron fitration media. It was mounted to the firewall and plumbed to the engine.

The filter isn?t for coolant. It?s an engine oil filter with a small oil cooler at the base. Left side of the engine, mounted perpendicular to the engine.

You?re welcome. Now go buy an operator?s manual so you can learn how to take care of your tractor.

Left side of the engine behind the power steering pump, sticking straight out from the engine.
If your's has a couple of heater hose's connected at the base of the filter they go to a small oil cooler between the filter and engine block.
If your's has a hydraulic filter on the pump mounted on the side of the engine it also has one located under the left foot board.

You need to get yourself a owners manual and I-T service manual.

Thanks, I have a shop manual but i guess need a service manual. I tried to turn the filter off to check but the housing turned also so i thought i bettter stop and ask the question. Thanks all.
