1973 Ford 2000 stalled out

I was on my 1973 Ford 2000 going to load it to do a plow job and it died. Now it won't start back. Will not even turn over. I have replaced battery cables, solenoid, and ignition switch and still nothing. I put my customer off when this happened and had to put him off again due to the weather. I'm afraid he will go with someone else if I put him off again so I really need to get this tractor running back tomorrow morning. Can someone PLEASE help? I have power everywhere there needs to be power. The only thing I have checked is the coil. Would this make it stall and not start back?

I also forgot to add that I can take a wire and jump both outside poles of the solenoid and it will turn over. Can I start it this way just to get through my job tomorrow?

If it won't even turn over, forget about the coil and ignition.

Focus on the battery, starter and the stuff inbetween.

Block clutch, put her in neutral, and then check that battery and starter. Maybee you have an incorrect solenoid. Bypass the safety start. Don't get run over. Double check neutral and blocked clutch, and leave fuel off, and ignition coil unplugged, as you are doing a cranking test only. Test while setting in the seat for safety. If there's anything you don't understand, don't do anything, come back and ask FIRST. be safe.

Post back.

Means bat and cables and starter are good.

Normally key power goes thru the granny nss, to the solenoid. If its a twin stick tranny.

The nss is a little pigtail out of the tranny too, is between solenoid and key.

You can jump that out and test start from the seat.

thanks for the help soundguy. I will try to troubleshoot that in the morning first thing. IF i get pressed for time trying to figure this out tomorrow morning can i jump the solenoid to get it started to complete this job tomorrow?

You should be able to jump across the Solenoid to start it if everything else is working properly. MAKE SURE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT, OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT DIE!!!

You don't mention whether it's a gas or diesel engine. If it's diesel, there not a lot extra to make sure is working, other than fuel shutoff is in the "run" position. If it's gasoline and there's electrical problems then the ignition circuit could have issues as well, but there's no way to tell for sure other than to try to start it.

Sorry, I missed the fact that you mentioned the coil ibefore I posted my first reply. Disregard the stuff about a diesel engine.

Not cranking sounds like the numeral safety switch quit working, a common issue on the old tractors.
The wires going to the trans have a plug, you can disconnect them and plug the wires together to bypass the safety switch.
If that gets it to cranking order a new safety switch.

You can bypass the neutral switch by taking off the cowl under the steering wheel. Take the two wires apart at the bullet connectors and push the upper two together. I had to do this with mine in real cold weather.

thanks for everyone's help. turns out one of the ignition switch wires had a break in it. you couldn't see the break because it was hidden by the piece of metal that wraps around the gas tank. anyway i repaired it and it fired right up. thanks again for all the advice
