I've read Hobo NC's description of"inline"and"adjustable"spark testers and still don't fully grasp a couple of things. #1.Why do I need both inline and adjustable test lights? Can't the adjustable capture"the event" AND "show spark health"? #2. While using the"adjustable"how are we to know how many KV is sufficient for various tractors, engines as well as 6volt and 12 volt systems? Thanks for clearification about this.

"Can't the adjustable capture"the event" AND "show spark health"

YES "BUT" on a running engine it be hard to pick out just one misfire are a short event of weak spark.

The light can not tell you spark health as far as KV goes but can tell you with ease if a misfire happens are the spark all of a sudden goes weak...

Use a adjustable to check spark health cranking and a light to catch the event on a runner... Its just so much easier to catch a misfire are an event were the spark goes weak (light will go dimmer) on issues like a bad condenser are dirty points.

I have always put those lights down when talking about spark diagnostics they sill have some merit but not yo confirm spark health on a non runner...
