Is it possible to trace previous owners ?

A Friend of mine is trying to trace the history of a Tractor which he believes once belonged to his father

Reg. UDX384L or UDX3854K
Ford 4000 Tractor D101
Tractor No. B909334
Engine. 3838202d11

Any Ideas where I can find previous history details?

Sorry! You won't find a recorded history of ownership on the web. The only possible way to know is to find out if your family has records of SN etc.

Ford 4000 Tractor D101 - D101 is the first part of the model number and means that it was a 3 cylinder 4000 general purpose ag chassis tractor with a diesel engine made on or after April 1, 1968. There should be two more characters at the end, a numeral followed by a letter that would tell us what transmission and PTO options it had.

Tractor No. B909334 - This is the serial number. The B at the beginning says that it was assembled at the factory in Basildon in the UK. The serial numbers for the European made tractors aren't as well documented as the ones made in the US, but that number should be a 1969 or 1970 serial number, and it was made for the UK domestic market (tractors made at Basildon intended for export had a separate s/n range that was between 000001 and 799999).

Reg. UDX384L or UDX3854K - those look like some sort of country specific registration numbers. Are you in the UK? Most states in the US do not require registration for tractors. I don't know whether tractor registration information is publicly available where you are, but that is probably the only way of tracing the history, unless he remembers who his father sold it to and you can trace that person down, or if he traded it in to a tractor dealer and the dealer is still in business you might try contacting them.

Hi Steve, the regestration number UDX is a Ipswich Suffolk number so the tractor
would more than likley have been supplied by Mann Egerton of Ipswich. MJ
