Are the Ford 8000 transmissions the same as was used for the 9000. I have an 8000 and am installing a 9000 engine which includes the turbo, so there is more hp involved and would like to know if the transmission on the 8000 will handle the extra hp. Thanks

They are pretty much the same transmission. However there are two significantly different types. The one is splash lubricated and the other is pressure lubed. I am pretty sure that the difference is between one with dual power is pressure, and one without it is splash. But it would be a good idea for you to find out.

It depends on what year the 8000 is if they are exactly the same as the 9000. The early 8000 was never available with dual power and was a different transmission. Once the 9000 came out and dual power was available they were the same. I was told as far as using one for pulling the early one was weaker but probably be fine for what your doing

The 8000 was manufactured in 1972 and does have the dual power transmission. Thanks for everyone's input, I appreciate the responses.

The parts book indicates changes between some of the major components between pre and post 1969 models, but I don't know what those differences are.
